Outreach
What is it?
An advice, advocacy and information service for people with acquired brain injury (ABI), who live within the Headway East London catchment area.
We offer outreach support on a range of issues including; benefits, care packages, housing, direct payments, social/vocational activities, rehabilitation opportunities, legal issues (including immigration and criminal) and referral and signposting to associated services.
Outreach can involve support with such things as form filling, applying for community grants, representing a person at statutory service meetings and appealing against benefits and disability living allowance decisions. In all instances the support will aim to enable and equip the person to better manage their own issues, thereby giving them more autonomy and control over the decisions which affect their lives.
Support is offered over the telephone, by email or in person at Headway East London. We can also organise home visits or meet at another convenient place in the community.
There is no set time frame for how long we will work with a person. The length of time will depend on what is happening in the person’s life and what sort of support they need.
To access outreach support you will need to complete a referral form. Please see referral.
