Headway East London hosted their first family day at the Headway House.
Over seventy family members came together to meet fellow families affected by brain injury at a BBQ lunch at the Headway House just off Kingsland Road, E2. The family members came from Headway East London catchment area of 13 London Boroughs.
On the day there were lots of information about Headway’s programmes and services, Art and Music activities for younger family members plus Pampering sessions, a BBQ Lunch and an Art Exhibition.
Since moving into the Headway House two years ago headway East London has been transformed by the members who attend the social hub into a vibrant, friendly colourful centre.
Event Organiser and Family Support Co-ordinator, Amy Neeb said ‘It was a great day. Family members had a chance to come and see what’s on offer here at Headway House for their brain injured family member as well as learn how they might become more involved’
Family member and Waltham Forest resident said “The staff were very welcoming and there was a really good atmosphere.I had seen pictures of Headway East london before but it was good to see it first hand.It was inspiring to see all the facilities that are available there. The kids had a great time ,and enjoyed the activities that were provided on the day especially playing pool and the art work. It was good to see what our family member gets up too!!! I look forward to the next Family Day!”
Redbridge resident Megan, age 12 said “I had a really good time at Headway.It’s a lovely place and the people there are really nice.It was good to see all the different things that they do there, i can see why my dad likes going to Headway.”
Headway East London holds three family support/support group meetings in East and North London: Wood Green, Redbridge and Romford.
