To launch Action for Brain Injury Awareness week (17-23 May 2010) we are looking for supporters to take part in the first Headway London Thames Bridge-Path sponsored walk.
On Sunday 16 May 2010, join fellow supporters across the capitalĀ and walk to support Headway’s work in London.
What is a sponsored walk?
A sponsored walk is a community fundraising activity in which participants raise money by collecting donations for walking a predetermined distance or course. It is also a fantastic way to promote and celebrate the work of the various Headway groups in London.
The City of London will provide a backdrop for a fun day out for participants whether they are members, family member, volunteers, supporter or staff.
The event allows for flexibility and choice - you can walk over the 10 Bridges of London (10.2km), choose to walk over certain bridges, start the route from another bridge (i.e. as part of a team in a relay), or follow the south path of the route (5.2km). It is important that you collect a stamp at each bridge or as you pass a bridge to show you have completed the route (either as an individual or as part of a team).
Why we need your support?
Headway operates a network of groups and branches across the UK and Channel Islands. In London, Headway offer a wide range of services, including brain injury rehabilitation programmes, carer support, social re-integration, community outreach and respite care. The services available will vary, depending on local needs and resources.
The event brings together all London Headway groups for the first time to raise awareness about acquired brain injury (ABI) and raise funds to support the work Headway do in supporter people affected by ABI.
Headway Groups represented:
- Headway East London
- Headway South East London/North West Kent
The walk starts at Vauxhall Bridge and ends at Tower Bridge, and can be completed as an individual challenge or team challenge. Individuals and teams will nominate a Headway group to fundraise for.
